Getting to Know God One Chapter At A Time
I started Messy Worship with one simple goal: Read the entire Bible, cover-to-cover, with comprehension, joy and application. It took me 8 years to do this because I only read one chapter a day and journaled on every chapter using the S.O.A.P. method. Then, every week I would write a blog about the themes I found in what I read.
Completing this goal changed my life. It gave me a personal, 1:1 friendship with God. I started making connections between normal, everyday life moments and scripture. It transformed confusion and chaos into a mindset rooted in making everything a purposeful act of worship instead. (Now, don’t get me wrong – I’m still a complete mess most days. BUT, because of my time in the Bible with God, that mess has a whole different feel to it.)
Now it’s your turn.

My Dream Is To See A Million Bible S.O.A.P.’s Happen By My 50th Birthday.
You don’t have to read through the whole Bible like I did . . . just start with one chapter and see where that takes you. Start with the book of John if you’re new to the Bible. Or, if you’re interested in learning about the early Christian church, check out Acts. If you’re curious about Old Testament historical figures, try Ruth, Esther, Daniel, Hezekiah, Job or Jonah.
Whatever chapter you begin with, you’re going to journal afterwards using the S.O.A.P. method. If you don’t know what that means, first go read The Trick That Made Me LOVE Reading My Bible for a simple, quick-start guide.
The final step is to snap a picture of your S.O.A.P. and submit it to me through the form on this page. I will read it, pray for you, and count it towards the 1,000,000.
Every S.O.A.P. counts – you can submit 100+ or just 1 (or anything in between) and it will count towards the goal. I will be documenting this challenge via the Messy Worship Podcast, newsletter blasts and social media.
